Lover’s Eye Brooch/Pendant

Made popular during the Georgian Era by then Prince of Wales and a gift to a certain clandestine sweetheart, the intrigue of lover’s eye miniatures has endured to this day. A hand-crafted crystal Eye cab is bezelled with Peyote Stitch, then surrounded by delicate Swarovski Crystal Pearls and Swarovski Bicone Fringe. Many eyes available, including pets, as well as colors of crystals and pearls.

Students will use Bead Embroidery and Peyote Bezel skills to surround a cab in 15/0 seed beads, choose from brooch or pendant options, and employ Brick Stitch and Picot Edging with Demi Rounds and 15s to complete the brooch. Crafting your own cabs will also be discussed.

Prerequisites: Basic Peyote Stitch, Brick Stitch

Techniques Used: Bead Embroidery, Peyote Stitch Bezel, Brick Stitch Edging

Materials included in Kit: Full-color instructions, Hand-crafted Crystal Eye Cab, Swarovski Pearls, Swarovski Bicones, 15/0 Seed Beads, Demi Rounds, Lacy’s Stiff Stuff, Ultrasuede, Pinback (optional), E6000, Beading Needle, and 6lb Fireline for use in class.

This project is unlikely to be completed in class, but you will go home with the skills and support to finish it on your own!

Supply List: Beading Mat, Task Lamp, Reading Glasses if necessary, and a pen and paper to take notes if preferred.

Guinevere’s Corset Bracelet

Mirroring the most opulent of waist cinchers worn by Princess Guinevere and her ladies, this bracelet evokes the romance of Arthurian legend. A luscious fabric base is adorned with sparkling crystals and beads, ribbon lacing, and topped off with a rolled bead edge. Several fabric colors, as well as custom sizing is available.

Students will use basic Bead Embroidery and rolled edging to decorate a pre-prepared base. Eyelet attachment, backstitching, and use of fusible interfacing to create your own bases will be discussed.

Prerequisites: Any beadweaving or needlework experience is helpful, but not necessary.

Techniques used: Bead Embroidery, Rolled Bead Edging, Eyelets, Ribbon Lacing, Fusible Interfacing, Hand Stitching.

Materials included in Kit: Full color instructions, Prepared Bracelet Base made with Brocade and Ultrasuede, Ribbon, 15/0 Seed Beads, Crystal and Glass Accent Beads, Sequins, Snap Closure, Beading Needle, and Fireline 6lb to use in class.

Glittering Firefly Brooch/Pendant

A large, sparkly crystal peeks out from beneath filmy, iridescent wings, glowing with an inner light. Heavily embellished outer wings are wired for a 3-D look. A shiny Rivoli, and Crystallettes ‘eyes’ help complete this whimsical piece. Convertible to both brooch and pendant. Color choices available, so you’ll want to make a whole swarm. This project will not be finished in class.

This class will focus on creating a multi-part bead embroidered piece, some parts incorporating a wired edge for 3D effect, and blending the individual pieces seamlessly to create a firefly. Use of Angelina Film, and merging Crystaletts with a Peyote Stitch Bezel will also be covered.

This project is unlikely to be completed in class, but you will go home with the skills and support to finish it on your own!
